A mother’s love knows no bounds and Tina Knowles continues to show up and stand up for her superstar daughter Beyonce.
This week brought with it the hotly anticipated release of visual album ‘Black Is King,’ which is billed as a love letter to Africa and heavily features music from ‘The Lion King: The Gift’ – Queen Bey’s companion compilation to ‘The Lion King.’
Featuring a lengthy list of African talent, ‘The Gift’ was critically acclaimed and loved by fans upon its release in summer 2019, but didn’t make as much of a dent commercially.
Now, Ms. Tina is weighing in with both praise and candidness.
Her words below…

“It is very interesting I have had a lot of friends to ask me is that all music done for the movie? Nooooo!!!! The Album is called “The Gift” The album has been out for a year !!! I have been in love with this album from the first time I heard it !!! I felt it was so genius but was totally underrated!! When it came out I felt like there was hardly any marketing or promotion done because it came out with the movie! It was overshadowed by The Lion King Movie! It made me so sad because the songs are so beautiful !!! And Spirit and Bigger were two of the biggest, best and most epic songs , ever ! The beats on the whole album are so infectious that it makes you move involuntarily whether you want to or not. “The Keys to the Kingdom “ is amazing and one of my favorite . My Power should be an Anthem!!! Saying “you can’t take my Power” It has become my fight song!!! The Otherside makes me cry everytime it always makes me think of all of the people I will see on the other side , my mom , my Dad , my brothers , sister and my Johnny! , and her range on it is unbelievable!!! She goes as low in her register as a dude!!! Yes everyone thinks that is a man but it is her!!! She collaborated with African Producers , writers , singers, Artist this record is a masterpiece!!! !!! It is a beautiful “GIFT “to the world !! Please stream this album , download it !!! Listen to the words ! It also lacked joyful uplifting uptempos.
I haven’t seen Black Is King yet, but apparently it’s another succession of videos with Beyoncé narrating whatever on a artsy tone… She’s been doing that for a while now… Time to renew herself.
I hope she will give us something different for her next solo project.

You felt like there was no promotion or marketing and the album was overlooked because your daughter didn’t promote or market it. She did 1 tv special that wasn’t promoted as well and stayed her ass at home. She didn’t even perform any of these songs even though she’s “one of the greatest performers of our time”. “Bigger” is a beautiful ballad but “Spirit” was a left over bonus track from “I Am…Sasha Fierce”, they were not “two of the biggest, best and most epic songs ever”. “Spirit” was a terrible choice to even lead the project and shunned alot of people away from it. “My Power” is more intense with its incredible visual, absolutely stunning, but the actual song is just there. Nothing more, nothing less. Stop trying to sell us on your daughters project because she seems to care less. I can count on my hands how many times she mentioned it. It was okay for what it was, but really unnecessary. She couldve put all that time and energy into B7 if she really wanted us to buy or stream anything.

SHE believed those two songs were epic…. that again is a subjective opinion… you have the right to your opinion, but your opinion is not fact. IMO this visual album was more impactful for our culture than many of releases in the past year. I will support anyone who is willing to put BLACK ARTIST on the forefront. Beyonce could have easily made another POP album to sell millions… instead she is worried about creating a legacy of change and uplifting BLACK people and seeing ourselves in a different light, rather than a maid, s****, or indentured servant.
